Terry L. Allen, CFA, ICD.D

With nearly 30 years of financial advisory and banking experience, Pivotal's President, Terry L. Allen, has led a wide spectrum of financing transactions in a variety of sectors.

Since 1996, Terry's experience has included:
  • Independent financial advisor on domestic and international financings; and
  • Senior Vice President and Director of PwC's Project Finance & Privatization practice in Calgary, Canada.
  • Founding Pivotal: providing objective project and corporate finance advice and raising capital for clients

From 1987 to 1996, Terry was a senior corporate banker managing multi-billion dollar portfolios at TD Bank and CIBC. Her banking experience includes:

  • Manager, Corporate and Investment Banking Group for TD Bank in Calgary, building and managing the senior corporate banking portfolio;
  • Key member of the project finance group and Senior Account Manager in the Oil and Gas Group for CIBC in Calgary; and
  • Worked for CIBC in Toronto in corporate and project finance, trade finance and credit decision making, including providing real estate project financing to major Canadian real estate developers.

Terry has closed a wide variety of transactions, including project financing (debt and equity), expansion financing, merger and acquisition financing, general corporate financing, bridge financing, bond financing, mezzanine/subordinated debt financing, balance sheet re-capitalization and restructuring, asset securitization and leasing. She has worked on transactions in Canada, the U.S., Latin America, the U.K. and Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Liam Goguen,

Liam Goguen

Liam Goguen joined Pivotal as an Analyst in 2014. Mr. Goguen is responsible for industry, company and funder research. Additionally, he crafts documents and presentations, designs financial models used in the financing process and analyzes financing proposals and key commercial agreements.


Prior to joining Pivotal, Mr. Goguen worked as an Equity Research Associate at Salman Partners Inc. In that capacity, he was responsible for conducting industry and company-specific research, preparing oil and gas research reports for clients and relaying news and analysis to the sales and trading team. He also developed, optimized and maintained financial models and databases and updated clients on relevant companies under coverage.

Mr. Goguen holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Finance from the Williams School of Business at Bishop's University, Quebec. He is studying for the CFA Level II Exam.
